Hilton Bellevue: Cancel Bigot Dinesh D’Souza’s Appearance

The anti-worker Freedom Foundation has sunk to a new low by choosing bigoted pundit, Dinesh D’Souza, as the keynote speaker for their scheduled annual fundraising event at the Hilton Bellevue in Washington on September 28.

D’Souza is right-wing extremist and convicted felon who has made millions from his racist, homophobic, misogynistic, and anti-working class writings and movies. He has heaped praise on growing income inequality and the strife that working people endure. He opposes the Civil Rights Act, called President Obama a “boy” from “the ghetto,” said that American slaves were treated “pretty well,” and said that African Americans behave differently from other races through negative behavior and dependency. While editor of the Dartmouth Review, D’Souza publicly outed LGBTQ students. In 2018 he was removed from the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) for repeatedly mocking survivors of the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida.

D’Souza is an extremist provocateur whose vitriolic rhetoric is inconsistent with our shared Northwest values. The Freedom Foundation may endorse his brand of bigotry, but our community businesses should not give a platform to this kind of intolerant hate mongering. We’re calling on the Hilton Bellevue to respect workers and the community, and cancel D’Souza’s appearance.
